Graphical Abstract.tiff

Highlights

Controlling Ni spatial distribution improved surface reducibility and reactant access in combined reforming of biogas.

•2E-T0.1 showed the highest CH4 and CO2 conversions and maintained stable activity with excellent coke resistance in CRM.

•The control of O/C ratio allows production of H2-rich syngas suitable for methanol or Fischer–Tropsch synthesis.
